About your instructor:

Elise Canup is an Italofile and gastronome hailing from Richmond Virginia. Her interest in Italy lies at the intersection of its food, its art, and its history—only appropriate for the holder of a Master’s in Italian Studies from Georgetown University who is fluent in Italian (ask her about her thesis on the gastronomic history of the Columbian Exchange!).

Elise has extensive experience living and working in Italy. While there she has studied at La Sapienza University, interned with the Rome Sustainable Food Project, worked on organic farms, and lead culinary tours up and down the Peninsula. While stateside, she has worked as an interpreter and curatorial assistant for a travelling exhibit of Vatican artworks, as the program coordinator The Italian Garden Project, and as the farm manager for Victory Farms.
