She's Resilient: Artist Workshop

Come spend the evening creating your own work of art to take home! You will work alongside 1 of 6 of our featured artists from the She's Resilient gallery show in creating a work of art inspired by their various forms of works. We will break into smaller groups and you can learn more about the artist in your group while experimenting with your own art. This show is inspired by art as a tool for mental health and wellness. We hope with this workshop you can take away some ideas of how to connect with your inner artist and use these tools whenever you want or need to! Supplies will be included in your cost for the event.

This event is open to the public and does not have a discount for Broads - get your tix here!

Date: June 26, 6-8pm

Additional information about the current show at The Broad, She's Resilient:
Featured Artists:
Cate West Zahl
Theodora Miller
Meredith Hill
Ashley Bozeman
Kelsey Copeland Lane
Courtney Allison Brown

With this amazing collection of works we wanted to bring the concept of art as a method of healing and growth to the conversation. From using art as a way to recover from an injury, to incorporating it into one’s daily meditation routine, to charting and recording mental wellness through the creation of works - these artists show us the breadth of how art can lead to various ways of tackling life’s challenges and celebrating your successes along the way. Every artist has a story behind their works and with this show we get a closer look into these six women’s inspiration and journey through their art.

Thank you to these local Virginia women artists for sharing their art and giving us the opportunity to learn more about the power and healing behind their works. For more information on each artist and their work please check out Sander Design & Art Consulting.

Join HYPE for a convo with Broad Ellie Burke on Wellness - tickets are limited to HYPE members with select seats reserved for Broads for free - please RSVP directly to Sarah Skrocki (Sarah.Skrocki@chamberrva.com) to confirm your free spot!

More details on this event:

HYPE debuts a new series in 2019: Wellness. Young professionals often struggle with the active process of becoming self-aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth: a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. We’ll explore Physical, Financial and Mental Wellness across the second quarter of 2019.

Let’s cap off the HYPE Wellness Series with a little self-TLC! Ellie Burke is a certified life coach, yoga and meditation teacher, and the Jedi master of her profession. Having been through her fair share of difficult life circumstances and internal turmoil, as well as incredibly rich and beautiful life experiences, she always seeks out answers to the big life questions. Drawn to philosophy, exploring the edges of life and understanding suffering, she started exploring the physical practice of yoga and meditation and helping others. She’ll share with us her thoughts on self-care, which she deems to be less about bubble baths and more about living life to the fullest. Touching on how to intentionally exclude or include parts of your life in the quest and how to not burn out at work, or personally, you’ll leave this session in a better place than when you walked in!

Minimum Viable Brand: StartupVA Field Trip w. Ali!

We’re taking another field trip to Startup Virginia and Ali is going to chat all things branding!
Tickets are free but required so grab them here!

Branding can be your strongest asset as a company, but there's a lot of confusion around what showcases a great company. You may be focused on perfecting the product (rightfully so), but don’t forget about what the customer actually sees – your brand. In this session, Ali Greenberg, founder of The Broad, will break down what it means to create and cultivate a brand.

This Builder Series will go over the questions that Ali gets asked the most including, “do I really need to be on social media?” and “why don’t people care about what I have to say?” We'll also talk about common misconceptions like, “but I have a logo, isn’t that a brand?” and “if I build it, they will come.” Diving into the psychology of why people engage with brands (or don't), you’ll walk away with a more strategic sense of where to focus your efforts and how to dive deeper into the ideas that will resonate with your core audience.

The SVA Builder Series at Startup Virginia is a chance for entrepreneurs to come together and hear from industry experts, educators, and mentors to learn practical information that can be readily applied to their businesses for actionable results.

No More Burnout: Restore the Spark in Your Career and Relationships

Feeling like you’ve lost your spark in your job or in your relationships? Do you feel like your job is sucking the life out of you? Do you love your partner but find yourself getting resentful at him or her, constantly? Does your job or your partner not “spark joy” anymore in you? Join us to learn from Purpose & Relationship Coach, Colleen Coles, and Burnout Coach, Carolina DeWell, methods and tools to restore the spark in your career and relationships. In this 2-hour workshop, you will:

  • Learn how to spot the warning signs of burnout in your work and relationships so that you can take steps to prevent it.

  • Establish healthy boundaries in your relationships so you can have more time for what sparks joy in you, without feeling guilty that you’re not showing up for your family or that you'll be getting behind at work.

  • Use the simple, yet powerful ACT Matrix to discover what you need to do to ensure you keep crushing it at work and at home so that you can avoid burnout and live your best spark-filled life!

This workshop is free for Broads and $10 for guests!

Colleen Coles is a Purpose Alignment Coach who helps women feeling stuck in their relationships, purpose, and intuitive power access their authenticity and connect to their Authenticity to better serve others in their purposeful career and in meaningful relationships. She specializes in helping women unlock the root of codependent behavior (needing others to be happy before you can be happy; or the inability to leave an unhealthy relationship) as well as having clarity in what’s stopping them from knowing their true purpose. Colleen has been doing this work for 4 years, and is a Certified Life Coach through the Divine Living Academy and is a Level 2 graduate from Gabrielle Bernstein's Spirit Junkie Masterclass.

Carolina DeWell is a Burnout Coach who helps high-achieving women who are burnt out gain the clarity and confidence to restore the spark in their work and lives so they can live a life of meaning and purpose. Carolina’s helps her clients by using approaches and tools that engage the mind, body and soul so that clients reconnect with their whole, authentic self and their inner compass, which always points them in the right direction. She also spent 15 years in Human Resources in several Fortune 500 companies where she coached leaders and employees to become the best leaders they could be.

Sexual Sharing Healing Circle

Join Purpose and Relationship Coach, Colleen Coles, as she hosts the Sexual Sharing Healing Circle for a judgement-free and lightly facilitated group conversation around our real experiences as womxn with sexuality. This circle is free and open to the public but RSVP is required to colleenthelifecoach@gmail.com!

  • Are you a womxn who feels stuck, lost, or unclear around your sexuality, even though you want it to be great?

  • Do you not know how to find clarity around this prevalent life area because of your past experiences conflicting with what you learned sex should be?

  • Are you desiring to feel more at peace and open with your sex life, but feel alone in your experiences, and are you curious to know more about what sex is really like for other womxn?

Come have the safe space to share openly, be heard, and listen to others experiences about sexuality in a safe, objective environment that will leave you feel more connected and understood from friendly setting a community of womxn.

Please note: While a coach will be present who has training in trauma, this is neither a group therapy session nor will it be under the care of a licensed therapist.

The Price is Right, Right? A Pricing Workshop

Too often business owners (especially women) use price as their greatest market differentiator, setting themselves up for a cycle of short changing their value, working harder for less, not getting the ideal clients, and setting the stage for early burnout. This workshop combines a little mindset with a lot of strategy and practical tools on how to determine your pricing strategy, how to charge what you are worth and stop underselling your services.

This workshop is best for those working as service providers and will be from 11:30-1PM on Friday May 10th at The Broad. Feel free to bring a lunch - coffee and seltzer will be provided. This event is free for Broads and is $30 for guests - day pass included for work before or after the workshop!

Lawyer, Entrepreneur, and Coach, Stinson Mundy, will be your guide through the rough waters of charging your true value!
